Following Uncle Sam H1 B visa outline, United Kingdom is also donning the protective cover for its citizens during the recessionary times of today. So stay ready to face stricter rules making it very tough for foreign skilled workers to seek employment within UK.

These days, it is a common sight in UK for local workers to stage protests against employment of highly skilled foreign workers, compelling the Home Ministry to make tough going on the foreign workers. As compared to last year’s figures, it surely expects a 40 – 50 % drop in the employment rate in this regard.

This comes at a time when UK faces dire shortages of skilled labour in areas such as teaching mathematics and science subjects, civil engineering, chemical engineering, and looking after senior citizens. These were the main areas where foreign skilled labour gained employment in UK.

The issue of European citizens seeking employment is a different issue altogether and not entirely possible meanwhile on the anvil is the deportation issue of EU citizens if convicted of offences dealing with violence, sex and even drugs which can be dealt at the speedier and a stricter level.

At present immigration is granted on a point based system empowering the authorities to control the points which allow or disallow employment seekers an entry in UK. This proves beneficial and flexible as entry can be adjusted as per requirements. But at this hour what becomes crucial is ensuring that the local citizens have priority in securing employment and earn a steady income as well.

Along with stricter conditions, it will become mandatory for all skilled jobs to be advertised on the Jobcentre Plus branches for a fortnight at least before venturing outside the European Union in searching for the requisite skilled labour.

Lot of things do need to be considered while drafting a policy of this stature as businesses wish to employ low cost but skilled employees which come in the form of foreign workers while at stake is the future of the local citizens who wish to gain fruitful economy in their homeland
